MOLINE, Ill. — The I-74 Bridge and the team behind it have just been recognized as one of the best in the world.
The Quad Cities' most traveled bridge was named the Top Concrete Infrastructure Project in the World during the American Concrete Institute's International Convention. Accolades were given to the bridge's architectural and engineering firms, general contractors, and the bridge's concrete company Hahn Ready Mix.
The awards were presented at the American Concrete Institute's convention in Boston from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.
Construction of the new bridge began in 2017 and construction was completed in 2021 at a cost of approximately $1 billion. It's estimated that by 2035, the bridge will be used by 99,000 vehicles daily.
