The work zone will go from the John F. Baker Jr. Mississippi River Bridge to the Illinois 92 interchange. Work is expected to be completed by May 10.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Lane closures are coming to I-280 in Rock Island starting Monday, May 6. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the work zone stretches from the John F. Baker Jr. Mississippi River Bridge to the Illinois 92 interchange. Construction is expected to be completed by Friday, May 10.

Work will be done to repair the guardrails, with lane closures expected in the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Delays are expected and drivers are encouraged to leave extra time for trips through the area or use alternate routes.

The work is a part of the Rebuild Illinois program, a six-year plan to improve over 3,000 miles of highway and nearly 10 million square feet of bridge deck across the state.
