MONMOUTH, Ill. — Three people have been displaced following a house fire in Monmouth.
The Monmouth Fire Department was dispatched to the blaze in the 300 block of the South B Street in Monmouth just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.
According to a press release, responding fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the second story of the residence. The fire was extinguished quickly and firefighters remained at the scene until around 7:45 p.m.
Three residents managed to escape unharmed, but the second floor of the structure sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage that has displaced the residents. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
Monmouth fire investigators have deemed the cause of the fire to be accidental.
