DAVENPORT, Iowa — A hoarded home on the 1000 block of Scott St. in Davenport caught fire around 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The Davenport Fire Department responded with 16 personnel, finding heavy smoke throughout the home and heavy fire showing on the second home. Crews found fire in the basement, first floor and second floor.
Nobody was found inside the home, and it appeared to have been neglected and vacant for some time. Hoarding conditions added to the intensity of the fire, making it impossible to fight from inside. The fire had spread to numerous void spaces within the home.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from outside for several hours. Crews established a fire watch afterwards to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
