HENRY COUNTY, Ill. — U.S. 150 in Henry County will be temporarily closed due to construction at the BNSF Railroad crossing north of Ophiem Road. The closure goes into effect Monday, May 6, and is expected to wrap up Saturday, May 11, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The purpose of the closure is to allow the railroad to remove and replace its at-grade crossing and repave the approaches. A marked detour will direct traffic to Illinois 81, Interstate 74 and Illinois 17.
People are encouraged to leave extra time for trips through this area and take alternate routes. To stay safe while driving through work zones, make sure to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
