GALESBURG, Ill. — Happy Joe's is expanding with new locations in the Southwest, but there's one less location to get a pizza closer to the Quad Cities.

The pizza chain announced the closure of its Galesburg location in a Facebook post on Sunday, Sept. 22. Initially, the restaurant would've been open through Monday as well, but officials said they sold off their inventory on Sunday and wouldn't be reopening.

Despite the local loss, the chain is expanding nationwide. According to a press release sent on Wednesday, Sept. 18, the restaurant will open new locations in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

“Demand for the unique attributes of the Happy Joe's brand is continuing to grow, and this latest expansion announcement is a testament to that,” Happy Joe's President and CEO Tom Sacco said in a press release. “Even more exciting, our growth momentum only shows signs of picking up speed.”

News 8 has reached out to company officials for details about the closure of the Galesburg location. As of this article's publication, we have not received a response.
