Quad Cities-based Group O moves forward with expected layoffs

A company spokesperson said the job cuts are due to losing a contract.

MILAN, Ill. — Back in April, Quad Cities-based employer Group O announced it would be laying off some employees over the course of six months.

At the time, it wasn't clear how many workers would be impacted. Illinois WARN notices show that 146 workers received a layoff warning letter in April. On Tuesday, a company spokesperson told News 8 that 23 of those workers are still with Group O in different roles and 35 have already found new jobs.

The remaining workers will be let go at the end of August or in September.

The company said the cuts are due to losing a contract but did not provide additional details. Nearly 90 workers were laid off over the winter due to the same contract loss.
