Vietnam veterans honored during ceremony at QC Senior Expo

20 veterans were honored for their service in the Vietnam War.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — During the Vietnam War, 9 million people served in the U.S. Military. Friday afternoon, 20 of them were recognized for their service in Davenport.

That includes Trish Miller. She forecasted the weather at the bombing range in Fallon, Nevada.

"I just really love being an American, and living in this country, and to be honored this way is just the best," Miller said.

During a ceremony at the QC Senior Expo, each received a lapel pin, a bumper sticker and an American flag. It included anyone who served between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, not just those who went to Vietnam.

Next April will mark 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War. The Department of Veteran Affairs estimates more than 7 million Vietnam veterans are alive today.
