DAVENPORT, Iowa — As members of the Quad Cities community celebrate Black History Month, one resident got to take the major step of opening the doors of her new business.
On Friday, Feb. 2, community members gathered at Promisse Hair & Studios for the grand opening of the new salon. Promisse provides services specifically geared toward different hair textures. The owner said that her inspiration to start the business came from seeing a need for more culturally inclusive hair care in her local community.
"I feel like there's not a luxury salon that's geared towards mixed people, Mexican people or Black people, so I really want this to be our luxury multicultural space," owner Promisse Alfaro said.
Promisse Hair & Studios is open Tuesday through Saturday. Alfaro said that walk-in appointments are welcome.
