Genesis Hospice's annual remembrance tree lighting happening next week

The ceremony has been an annual tradition since 2004.

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Editor's note: The video at the top of this article is from the 2022 tree lighting ceremony.

A tradition nearly two decades old is continuing in the Quad Cities for the holiday season.

Genesis Hospice will host their annual remembrance tree lighting ceremony outside the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, located at 2546 Tech Drive in Bettendorf, at 6 p.m. on Nov. 6. The ceremony is meant to help celebrate the memory of loved ones who have died.

“The Genesis Hospice Remembrance Tree shines a light on the legacy of those patients who have received our care, and we hope it provides comfort to many. The tree-lighting is a positive way to honor those who have passed and who we will miss over the holidays," Jamie Moen, Genesis home and community services director said.

It costs $10 to sponsor a blue light on the tree in remembrance of a loved one. If you'd like to sponsor someone, you can do so at genesishealth.com/tree.
