Man arrested after stabbing in Geneseo, police say

Police say they have arrested 22-year-old David Boan on attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery charges.

GENESEO, Ill. — A Geneseo man has been arrested for attempted first-degree murder after a reported stabbing left one person seriously injured, according to police. 

After responding to a disturbance call in the 600 block of South Congress Street on Saturday, July 13, the Geneseo Police Department says officers found a person with multiple stab wounds to the head, face and body. They were taken to a nearby hospital before later being transported to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for treatment. Officials say they sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. 

22-year-old David Boan was arrested after officers located him near the scene of the incident, a press release from the Geneseo Police Department states. He faces one count of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery, with one of those stemming from the victim being over 60 years old. He is currently being held at the Henry County Jail. 

Detectives with the Geneseo Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.
