GENESEO, Ill. — The City of Geneseo is under a Tier One Water Response due to dry weather conditions around the Quad Cities.
Mayor Sean Johnson enacted the order, which takes effect on Wednesday, June 19. City officials said the largest change was a requirement for residents to limit the use of their lawn irrigation systems to just two days a week. The exact days will depend on a home's address; you can check the graphic below to see when your home is allowed to irrigate.
Despite the lawn watering restrictions, the use of smaller handheld water sources such as a garden hose or watering can is still permitted.
The water response is in effect until further notice, and city officials said they'll reevaluate the order as environmental conditions change.
Construction of a fifth water well for the city is underway, and the project is estimated to be completed in November. The city's capital improvement plan also includes a future sixth well.
