GALESBURG, Ill. — Galesburg students had a chance to explore some possible career opportunities this week.
On Thursday, Oct. 26, the Galesburg Area Vocational Center hosted its third annual manufacturing and trades showcase. 45 local businesses were invited to the event, where they were able to give students a chance to get some early hands-on experience.
"I had a student today that was welding with the Local 25, and she did so well. She got done, she called her mom to tell her how well she welded today. It's stuff like that, as an educator and as a director of a Vocational Center, puts a smile on your face every time," Adam Seaney, director of the Galesburg Area Vocational Center, said.
According to organizers, more than 1,800 students participated in the event.
