KNOX COUNTY, Ill. — A Galesburg man is facing numerous sexual assault charges involving a minor, the Knox County Sheriff's Office says.
According to a press release, the sheriff's office — along with the help of the Galesburg Police Department — received information on a possible sexual assault involving a child in the Knox County area. Further investigation revealed there were multiple victims across the state.
Investigators identified a suspect, 26-year-old George R. Keske, who was taken in for questioning.
The sheriff's office says the interview gave enough probable cause for officials to charge Keske with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault against a child under 13, a class X felony. Officials confirmed the offenses took place in the Knox County area, but say "more charges are expected in other jurisdictions," according to the release. The investigation is ongoing.
On Thursday, March 21, court documents show Keske was released on the following conditions:
- No contact with children under 17
- Obtain a psychological evaluation
- Must stay away from schools and childcare centers
- Will be electronically monitored
- Must attend pretrial services
Under Illinois' SAFE-T Act, cash bail ended in the state on Sept. 18, 2023. Whether or not a suspect is detained until trial is now determined by the court and is based on factors like the type of crime or if they're likely to re-offend.
