Police arrest Galesburg murder suspect

27-year-old Christopher E. Alfaro is charged in a fatal shooting on Saturday, Aug. 17 on Moshier Avenue.

GALESBURG, Ill. — Update: Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Knox County Sheriff's Office announced that Christopher Alfaro has been arrested and booked into the Knox County Jail.

A warrant has been issued for a man following a fatal Galesburg shooting on Saturday, Aug. 17.

According to a Galesburg Police Department news release, an arrest warrant has been issued for 27-year-old Christopher E. Alfaro for first-degree murder and aggravated battery.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, police said they responded to the 1400 block of Moshier Avenue for a shooting.

Officers entered the home and found Heath D. Williams Sr. with multiple gunshot wounds. According to the release, the officers attempted life-saving measures and Williams was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information on Alfaro's location or any information regarding the case is asked to contact the Galesburg Police Department at (309) 343-9151.
