Law enforcement practicing response to school incidents in Fulton on Wednesday

Access will be temporarily restricted around River Bend Elementary and River Bend Middle School during the practice.

FULTON, Ill. — Law enforcement officials in and around Fulton will be conducting a drill on Wednesday, Nov. 15 around River Bend Middle School to test their readiness for an incident at a local school.

The drill is expected to begin at approximately 1 p.m. While the practice is ongoing, 12th St. will be closed from 7th Ave. to 4th Ave. Access will also be limited on 6th Ave. and 12th St. According to Fulton Police, traffic is expected to be reopened by 4 p.m.

Officials with the Fulton Police say the drill will be "an active event with many moving parts," and the public is asked to avoid the training area while it's ongoing. Questions can be directed to Fulton Police Chief Nicholas Neblung at 815-666-6563 or nick.neblung@cityoffulton.us.
