MONROE COUNTY, Iowa — An Ohio man is in jail after spending nearly two weeks on the run.

Victor Farris was wanted in connection to a kidnapping in Peoria after authorities said he stole a vehicle with a 3-year-old child inside. Around 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, a train conductor saw Farris leap off a train and flee. Afterward, a Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy found Farris in an alley and arrested him.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Farris is going through the extradition process and will eventually be brought to the Peoria County Jail.

The case dates back to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, when police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle with a child inside. The child was found safe a short time later at a local gas station, but 45-year-old Victor E. Farris, the man who police say kidnapped the toddler, was still on the run.

Police said Farris stole the vehicle from the 2000 block of W. Pioneer Parkway. Officials located the stolen vehicle Wednesday afternoon.
