Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers restaurant is eyeing an expansion into the Illinois Quad Cities area.

MOLINE, Ill. — Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers restaurants could open more locations in the News 8 viewing region by the end of next year.

According to a company spokesperson, MLY Investments — owned by the father/son team of Mike and Steven Young — is planning to bring Freddy's restaurants to Rock Island and Knox counties in Illinois, and Des Moines County in Iowa.

The team is currently targeting Moline and Galesburg but is reviewing all potential sites in both Illinois counties. Company officials didn't provide specifics on where the Des Moines County restaurant would be. They would like to have a location picked out in early 2025 and have it up and running by the end of 2025.

The MLY Investments deal is part of a 21-restaurant expansion to the franchise system. Freddy’s has more than 530 restaurants in 36 states, with another 130-plus locations in development for 2024 and 2025.

The fast-food chain is known for its steakburgers, all-beef hot dogs and shoestring fries, along with frozen custard treats.

The chain currently has two locations in Davenport, one at 916 W Kimberly Rd., and another at 4521 E 53rd St. There are 12 total locations in Iowa and 22 in Illinois.

Editor's note: A company spokesperson has clarified that Freddy's is looking at a location in Des Moines County, Iowa, not the city of Des Moines which News 8 previously reported. The story has been updated to reflect this information.
