Family displaced following morning fire in Moline

Due to working smoke alarms, all occupants were able to safely evacuate before fire officials got to the scene.

MOLINE, Ill. — A Moline family has been displaced from their home following a Wednesday morning fire, officials said. 

Just after 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 30, the Moline Fire Department responded to the 4200 block of 11th Avenue A after receiving reports of a fire. Responding officials found a medium, two-story multi-family housing unit with heavy smoke coming from inside. 

Due to working smoke alarms, all occupants were able to safely evacuate prior to MFD's arrival. The fire was contained in about 15 minutes, officials said. Crews remained at the scene to ensure there were no smoldering remains. 

A family was displaced by the incident and is receiving assistance from the Red Cross, according to a press release. The fire remains under investigation by the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations.
