Fire intentionally set in Galesburg, officials say

Officials say no occupants or pets were found after searching the building. The structure is a total loss and no injuries were reported.

GALESBURG, Ill. — Officials are investigating an early Sunday morning fire in Galesburg that they say was intentionally set. 

Firefighters responded to 1011 E. Brooks Street around 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning, April 14. All three stations responded. Fire crews saw heavy smoke and flames along the east side of the structure and began to extinguish the blaze. According to city officials, off-duty fire personnel were called to provide emergency coverage to the city.

Officials say no occupants or pets were found after searching the building. The structure is a total loss and no injuries were reported. 

Galesburg Fire Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and it remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Galesburg Police or Fire Department at (309) 343-9151.
