BETTENDORF, Iowa — A Bettendorf home is uninhabitable following a Saturday afternoon fire.

According to the Bettendorf Fire Department, firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire at 24840 179th Street Place shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. Upon arriving on the scene, fire was visible on the front side of the home, but crews were able to extinguish the flames.

One resident of the home was outside while firefighters battled the fire and avoided any injuries during the incident. However, they weren't able to immediately return to the home because crews deemed it uninhabitable due to fire and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
