DAVENPORT, Iowa — Fourth grade students at Fillmore Elementary got to make spring a little brighter for some local seniors.
On Friday, May 3, students assembled care packages for senior residents of Ridgecrest Village as part of North Scott Rotary's "Pay It Forward" project. Those packages included encouraging notes and pinwheels, among other things. Rotary officials said they wanted to give the students a chance to give back in their local communities, and the students were more than happy to participate.
"Make them feel good. They might not have a lot of visitors, just maybe their friends, so it might make them feel good seeing some young people care about them," student Arya Manary said.
