THOMSON, Ill. — The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) placed FCI Thomson on lockdown status after learning that a firearm may have been brought into the prison.
A FBOP spokesperson confirmed with News 8 that FCI Thomson was placed on lockdown on Thursday, Apr. 25, after the FBOP received "critical information that a firearm may have been introduced."
According to the FBOP website, all visiting at FCI Thomson has been suspended until further notice, as of 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 29.
The incident is under investigation.
