BURLINGTON, Iowa — A Burlington man was killed after his truck overturned on a highway embankment and crashed last week.

According to the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office, officials were dispatched to U.S. Highway 61 near 130th Street — just north of Burlington — around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Upon arrival, sheriff's deputies found a pickup truck at the bottom of a steep embankment on the highway.

The driver of the truck, identified as 68-year-old Richard Oscar Cline, was airlifted to a regional hospital where he later died. Officials said Cline was driving north when he lost control, went off the road and overturned while descending the embankment.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
