Fire in Wheatland forces family to evacuate

Two adults and three children had to leave the home, but no one was injured.

WHEATLAND, Iowa — Five people had to be evacuated from a home in Wheatland due to a fire.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, reports of a fire at 1984 110th Ave. came in just before midnight on Thursday, Sept. 19. Responders found a corn crib burning when they arrived. They then entered a home on the property to the south of the crib along with the person who reported the fire and a family member who arrived on scene. The group was able to evacuate the family inside, which consisted of two adults and three children.

Everyone was able to get out safely, and none of the family members were injured, according to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.

The fire is still under investigation.
