ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Sixth graders at Eugene Field Elementary in Rock Island brought history to life on Friday for the school's annual "Talking Wax Museum" event.
Students dressed up as a wide variety of famous inventors or as an invention itself. They were able to pick anything they wanted and had five weeks to put their presentations together, including their costume. During Friday's event, attendees would press a "button" that would make the display come alive.
"It incorporates all those real-world skills," teacher Tyler Allison said. "The kids work hard. They put things together, then at the end, they're asked to speak and kind of present that information, which is something they're going to take with them for the rest of their lives."
