Eldridge man building snow tubing hill near Lost Grove Lake

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — An Eldridge man's love of winter sports is coming to fruition near Lost Grove Lake.

Riley Grunwald is building a new snow tubing hill near the site. It will be 75 feet high, 750 long and will have a moving carpet conveyor belt so tubers won't have to walk back up the hill. With few outdoor winter sports opportunities, Grunwald said he wanted anyone to be able to come out and enjoy the ride.

"Everyone can enjoy the outdoors in the winter time. If you're old, if you're young, everyone can slide down the hill and enjoy the fun. Come build a snowman, come play in the snow. We'll have a place for you," Grunwald said.

Grunwald told News 8 that he'll be testing everything out for the hill this winter and will hopefully begin making snow in January. He hopes to open the hill to the public in winter 2025.
