New website gives East Moline residents info on downtown revitalization

The city received a nearly $24 million grant last year to move forward with the improvements.

EAST MOLINE, Ill. — After receiving nearly $24 million in federal funding last year to bring their Greater Downtown Streetscape Master Plan to life, East Moline city leaders have launched a new website that will help keep residents up-to-date about the future of the project.

The website, www.DowntownEastMoline.com, will provide updates on the city's efforts to improve the community, including the downtown core at 15th Ave., The Rust Belt area at 12th Ave. and The Bend at the riverfront.

“The lack of connections and cohesive landscaping between our downtown, The Rust Belt area, and The Bend create both a physical and visual barrier for residents and visitors to explore our great city,” said Mayor Reggie Freeman. “We now have an amazing opportunity to create a more beautiful, inviting greater downtown area.”

Public meetings on the revitalization project, where residents will be able to review the proposal in more detail and provide feedback on them, will be held sometime in 2024.
