EAST MOLINE, Ill. — The East Moline Public Library named Quad Cities native Bianca Sierra as its new director.

Sierra is a graduate of United Township High School in East Moline. She most recently served at the Davenport Public Library as manager of two branch locations for nearly 10 years.

The library's former director, Laura Long, accepted a position with the Fremont Public Library District in Mundelein.

The board of directors noted Sierra's vision for the future of the library.

“East Moline has changed over the years and continues to change,” Board Trustee Sheryl Hanson said in a press release. “I was impressed with Bianca’s ideas on how we can best identify and meet the changing needs and grow our services.

Sierra will start her new position on Feb. 7.
