Woman crashes vehicle into East Moline apartment building, arrested for DUI

A woman has been arrested after East Moline police say she crashed her vehicle into an apartment building while driving under the influence.

EAST MOLINE, Ill. — A woman has been arrested after East Moline police say she crashed her vehicle into an apartment building while under the influence on Thursday, July 11. 

In a news release, officials said the crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. at the Deerfield Woods Apartments in the 1000 block of 51st Avenue. The apartment unit that was impacted was occupied at the time of the crash, but no occupants were injured.

News 8 was at the scene, where extensive damage could be seen with the entire vehicle parked inside the apartment.

The driver was identified as 34-year-old Niyonzima Roza. Roza was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and subsequently arrested for driving under the influence. Roza was also issued a citation for reckless driving.
