BETTENDORF, Iowa -- The Iowa and Illinois Departments of Transportation have released official plans for the I-74 detours as well as River Bridge construction updates.
If weather allows, detours will begin Monday, March 18.
All westbound I-74 traffic will detour to I-80 and I-280.
IDOT says the I-74 river crossing will be open throughout the construction. However, the Iowa bound bridge will be just one lane.
IDOT estimates the new Iowa bound bridge will be ready in the first half of 2020, but the schedule can change base on weather and flooding.
Starting on March 18, local traffic to downtown Moline must use 19th street.
Local traffic to Bettendorf must use the Iowa bound I-74 on-ramp at River Drive.
All on and off ramps will stay open on the Illinois bound I-74 during 2019.
If everything goes according to schedule, beginning March 20, local traffic on the Iowa bound bridge must take Exit 4 to Grant Street/U.S. 67 in Bettendorf.
From now until May 2019 local Bettendorf Trafic will be routed from Grant Street to 14th Street to Kimberly Road then to Middle Road to access Westbound I-74.
