BETTENDORF, Iowa -- Neighbors in Bettendorf knew to call for help when they saw a bald eagle drop to the ground from a tree.

Rescuers from the Scott County Conservation Department came out to Hawthorne Drive and Horizon Court on Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2016 to help the bird. The bird had fallen between an apartment building and a bush.
It took some calculating, but the three rescuers eventually went at the eagle with a blanket, and were able to wrap it up and secure it.
Dave Murcia with the Conservation Department said the bird didn't put up a fight and may be either sick or injured. The eagle was taken to a nearby veterinarian for treatment.
“If you see injured wildlife, don’t try to rescue it yourself – first, call your local conservation officer or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator,” advises the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
