If you’re traveling in Iowa, planning your route around construction projects just got easier.
The Iowa Department of Transportation launched a new website that shows drivers where the major construction zones are. Click here to see the website.
The site shows current projects, outlines future projects, and offers updates about major construction projects.
Mark Bortle, the Iowa DOT’s traffic safety field engineer said the department was excited about the launch for several reasons.
“First, it will help the public get the information they need any time of the day or night,” said Bortle. “Of course, they can always call one of our offices, but sometimes that isn’t as convenient as just logging on.”
National Work Zone Awareness Week is from April 7 – 11, and Bortle said the website’s debut serves as another reminder to “keep an eye out for the many family members, friends, and neighbors out working on the roads.”
