There is evidence that Prince’s death was not unexpected. He started writing his memoirs a month ago. He finished about 50 pages by the the time of his death.
The pop star’s plane landed in Moline, Illinois last Friday and TMZ is reporting that sources say he was given a “save shot” used to counteract the effects of opiate overdose. Against doctor’s advice, the star left the hospital only hours after arriving.
As of Thursday evening, those claims had not been publicly confirmed.
TMZ later reported that Prince had overdosed on Percocet before landing at the Quad Cities International Airport in Moline, Illinois. Reports indicate that Prince had been taking painkillers for a hip problem, possibly related to a hip surgery he had in 2010.
TMZ reports that Prince went to a pharmacy just hours before he died. This was the fourth time he visited the pharmacy in a week. TMZ obtained this photo of Prince leaving a Walgreens near his home in Minnesota on Wednesday night, April 20th:
Sources tell TMZ people at the Walgreens store were concerned because he looked much more frail and nervous than usual.
On Saturday night, April 16th, he addressed a crowd at Paisley Park near his home and said: “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”
He had been battling an illness for several weeks, even cancelling two shows in Atlanta. He was secretly scheduled to play St. Louis on April 16th before that show was canceled.
