Heavy smoke was visible for miles as it poured from a burning house on the west side of Rock Island, Illinois.
The fire was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at a house in the 600 block of 6th Street.
Initial reports indicated three people lived at the house. Firefighters on the scene requested help from the American Red Cross for one adult and two children, ages 14 and 9.
Firefighters said a dog and a cat perished in the fire. Another small dog was reportedly rescued from the burning home.
No other injuries were reported.
