The Scott County Freedom Rock Memorial was damaged when it was apparently run over by a vehicle in LeClaire, Iowa.

Police said the damage was reported Monday evening, August 31, 2015.  It was unclear when the damage actually occurred.

“Upon arrival the officer found three of the decorative lighted rocks appeared to have been run over by a vehicle(s),” said a statement from LeClaire Police Chief Shane Themas.

The memorial is located along the Mississippi River in LeClaire.

The boulder, at the center of the memorial, is painted with images to honor those who currently and previously served in the U.S. military.

The boulder is surrounded by several smaller rocks, as well as a ring of bricks engraved to honor individual military service.   One of those smaller boulders appeared to be missing, in photos provided by LeClaire Police.

Anyone with information about the damage to the Scott County Freedom Rock Memorial should call LeClaire Police at 563-289-4242, extension 1.
