Rock Island Police Chief Scott Harris has decided to leave his position as chief of police to become the Director of Public Safety at Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Chief Harris has been a police officer in Rock Island since 1982 and was promoted to police chief in May of 2010.
Harris will start his new position on November 5th. Rock Island City Manager Thomas Thomas will name a temporary replacement
