Rock Island County Board executive assistant Shelly Chapman was fired from that position Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
No immediate explanation was given for her dismissal. Chapman was at the center of some controversy over compensation time and overtime she reported as part of her work. In 2013, Chapman reportedly cashed in about $18,000 in compensation time, claiming she was owed compensation for more than 600 hours.
Rock Island County Board member Don Johnston said the extra pay violated county policy because it was never approved through a vote from the board. He also said he found errors on Chapman's time cards.
