Update: ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The Rock Island Arsenal ID Office is back open as of June 7.
According to a media noticed released by the Arsenal, the office first closed due to a government systems outage. The office is now reconnected and able to process new access cards.
Because of the outage, those affected by the previous closure may experience slight delays. The notice says the card technician is "working diligently to service previously scheduled appointments and walk-in customers."
Earlier: People at the Rock Island Arsenal who are in need of a new ID issued by the Department of Defense will have to wait. The ID office is currently closed.
Arsenal ID's are used for military and civilian personnel. They are also necessary for employee's to work.
According to the Arsenal, the office cannot accept anyone at the moment. It is unclear when they will reopen.
A Public Affairs Officer tells News 8 that the visitors center is still open and remains fully functional.
