DAVENPORT, Iowa — On the final day of the Mississippi Valley Fair, it's the rides, all sorts of rides that may leave the largest impression on families.

"On Sundays, we always bring the kids up and it’s a family day," said Heather McIntyre, of Davenport. She cheered on her nieces and her sons as they rode one of the dozens of rides scattered across the fairgrounds.

The fair took place from Tuesday, August 2nd through Sunday, August 7th.

McIntyre says she enjoys the concerts, but that her favorite part about the fair is the rides with the kids.

"It was just exciting to see them do rides that we've done growing up," said said, just after her nieces and sons got off their ride.

The Mississippi Valley Fair is well known for its concerts. Each night of the fair had a different Grandstand attraction - Chris Janson, Gary Allen, 3 Doors Down, Rascal Flatts, Alabama, and Montgomery Gentry, respectively.

"[The Mississippi Valley Fair] is a mish-mosh of a lot of different things, and the carnival is one of them," said Bob Fox, General Manager of the Mississippi Valley Fair. He measures a successful fair based on whether or not people come out, have a good time, and get home safe.

According to Fox, attendance at that fair is up in 2016 over 2015. Exact numbers from the week were not available on the final day of the fair.

"I tell her all the rides that I have been on when I was her age, she loves them," said Justin Logsdon, as he held his daughter, Stori, in his arms after coming off a ride.

Logsdon says the fair is a good experience for all kids.

"I have been here since I was her age, so me growing up with them and then now she gets to grow up with the same rides," said Logsdon.

The special on the final day was that fair attendees could purchase a $20 wristband to ride unlimited rides from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

"The price brought us in and it was something we could do together fairly cheap," said Tiffany Noel, of Opiem, Illinois. This is her first time at the fair, which she attended with her family.

For Noel, the Mississippi Valley Fair has a wide variety of rides compared to other fairs she has attended.

"There's a lot more to choose from I mean, most places you go you're lucky to get 4 or 5 here there's 20 different kids rides," said Noel.
