About 1,500 water slides sold exclusively at Menards stores are being recalled for inadequate safety labeling.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the warning labels on Liquid Motion inflatable water slides are inadequate.  The labels don’t specify a strict enough weight limit for the slides, and they don’t tell consumers to never slide head first.

The manufacturer has reportedly received one report of a man who suffered a neck injury after sliding head first down one of these water slides.

The recalled water slides were sold exclusively at Menards stores from April to July 2010 for about $300.  They are blue and yellow and measure 18 feet long by nine feet high by five feet wide.  The “Liquid Motion by Sportspower” logo is printed on the side of the slide.

If you have one of the recalled water slides, contact Sportspower for new labels to affix to the water slide.  The labels warn consumers not to slide head first, and not to use the slide if they are older than 13 year s of age or weigh more than 100 pounds.

Contact Sportspower toll-free at 1-888-965-0565 Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central time; by email at customerservice@sportspoerltd.net or online at www.sportspowerltd.net.
