Overnight storms cause damage around the Quad Cities

Several trees and power lines were reported down amid severe storms overnight Wednesday, July 6, 2016.

For multiple hours, starting after midnight, the National Weather Service was getting reports of the downed trees and lines in counties north of the Quad Cities.

Around 12:35 a.m. law enforcement in the Galena, Illinois area spotted trees down near Guilford Road and Stagecoach Trail as well as near Council Hill Road and West East Road.

Around 2:30 a.m. trained spotters in Iowa reported power outages in Linn County, along with 55-60 mph winds. In neighborhoods just south of there, in Johnson County, trained spotters also reported tree branches down around 2:45 a.m.

Shortly before 3 a.m. in Jones County, a large tree was reportedly down across a road near North Ford and East Liberty Streets in Anamosa. Several tree limbs were also down in Monticello, as well as one large tree north of Highway 38, which broke off at ground level.

Just after 3 a.m. multiple trees and power lines in Cascade were down in Dubuque County.

Photos taken at Riverside Park in Moline show that rains overnight swept the Riverside Creek Bridge downstream about 600 feet.

Storm damage also caused power outages to hundreds in the Quad Cities, according to MidAmerican Energy.  Outage areas include Rock Island County, Scott County, Mercer County, Johnson County, and Henry County, Illinois. Restoration times were slated between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
