Reporter Jenna Morton and photojournalist Scott Weas placed third in the Sports Coverage category for their coverage on Pickelball, a sport similar to tennis that’s played with a paddle and a Wiffle ball. The Sports category recognizes excellent coverage of sports figures or events, not including play-by-play coverage.
In the Overall Excellence in Reporting category, reporter Chris Minor placed third. The category recognized those who present material in a clear, understandable manner, while engaging an audience and staying relevant to a topic.
Reporter Brittany Lewis got third place in the Features category for her report on the debate of if it’s ethical to bait eagles for photography. Stories recognized in this category were required to be aired with the “intent to provide relief from the impact of hard new stories.” Entries needed to include human interest, delivery, production values, and evoke emotion from the audience.
WQAD wants to say congratulations to all award recipients and nominees for all their hard work and efforts.
