DAVENPORT, Iowa - There's new attractions with animal races at the Mississippi Valley Fair.
They're off, competitive duck swimming is a new attraction this year called the Great American Duck Race.
"It was fun. I got to just like splash the duck. I got wet it was a pretty hot day," said fair goer Kia McClure.
Part of Kia's prize for picking a winner was getting to hold the duck to race.
"Their wings are harder than the rest of their body like it`s gonna kill me," said McClure.
Right down the fairway another new attraction had animals racing for the finish line.
"This race here we race pigs, goats, ducks and weiner dogs," said Gregg Woody, owner of Woody's Barn Yard.
With the turnout for this show, Woody's Barn Yard hopes to be back next year.
"We hope to see a lot of people because you know the fair brings us in to entertain the people and if the people are happy the fair will have us back," said Woody.
People filled the stands to listen to a few jokes and the cow bells egging on the animals to the finish line.
Each year the fair tries to bring in new attractions and hopes they'll keep the crowds coming back.
