A first-of-its-kind archery tournament has come to the Quad Cities. The event was held on Credit Island Saturday, July 18, 2015.
The Regions Archery hosted the tournament and the National Tournament Director Bradley Adams said around 100 people came out to the tournament on this hot weekend day.
The archers shoot at 3-D animals and compete based on skill level. The target can be anywhere from 15 yards to 50 yards away.
Adams said archery isn't a very popular sport in the Quad Cities area, but it has the potential. Regions Archery is trying to appeal to the bow hunting community.
"There's not really a whole lot of national archery events that go on in this area, so we figured we'd come in and try to fill the hole," Adams said.
The tournament continues Sunday with a Modern Bowhunter class in the morning and the Pro-Am at noon.
The event is expected to bring in about $250,000 to the area.
