ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — Well over 50 bikers toured parts of the WQAD viewing area on Sunday, all to benefit kids going back to school. The benefit ride, 'Bikers for Backpacks' raises school supplies for students of the Rock Island Milan School District.
The sign-up fee included a donation of a backpack stuffed with school supplies for the kids.
"Bikers are all about charity," said Mark McQuate, founder of the 1 Marine 1 Life foundation, and rider in the 'Bikers for Backpacks' event.
The group of bikers finished their ride at the Rock Island Milan School District's Rock Back into the School Year event.
"I mean, in any community, it doesn't matter whether it's Rock Island, or California, or New York, Bikers everywhere - they got the biggest hearts ever," said McQuate.
The bikers made stops in Muscatine, New Boston, and Andalusia for food and fun, before finishing up at Rock Island's Schweibert Park.
