A sign on the International House of Pancakes restaurant in Moline, Illinois says the location is closed.
A sign on the door of the business Thursday, January 16, 2014 indicated it was closed because of “non-renewal of lease.”
The location at 4410 16th Street, near SouthPark Mall, was still listed among IHOP locations on the company’s website that same day.
The sign on the entrance encouraged customers to visit the Davenport IHOP at 3035 E. 53rd Street.
The Children’s Miracle Network, which benefits from funds raised by IHOP’s National Pancake Day, posted online that the next National Pancake Day was set for March 4, 2014.
It was unclear whether the closing had any connection to recent discussions for revitalizing the SouthPark Mall area. The IHOP location was on maps of the site plan published online by SouthPark Mall owner Macerich as part of their efforts to attract new tenants.
In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, January 16, IHOP spokesman Craig Hoffman said the restaurant was closed effective January 14 at 10 p.m.
“Our franchisee informs us that best efforts were made to contact all team members on Friday and over the weekend to inform them of this decision,” Hoffman said.
