MOLINE, Illinois -- Within a matter of hours after the Cubs earned a historic Win against the Cleveland Indians for the World Series championship, this lifelong fan was out celebrating.
Dan Wessel brought out his own Cubs and set up shop in front of the WQAD News 8 studio on Thursday morning, November 3, 2016. He was waving and giving the "thumbs up" to cars that drove by. The 79-year-old has been waiting for a victory like this for a long time, and apparently so have his painted Cubs figures.
"This came out of hibernation after 108 years," said Wessel, as he showed off his life-sized Cubs statues. "When he went into hibernation, that's what he looked like. There's a lot of happy Cubs fans today."
His advice? Savor the moment, because you never know when they'll win again.
