The reverse implement option (RIO) system can fail, posing a laceration hazard to bystanders. RIO is a safety system that shuts off power to the mower blades when the machine is placed into reverse.

These lawn and garden tractors were sold at independent John Deere dealerships nationwide from December 2015 through July 2016 between $8,000-$11,700.

Anyone using one of these lawn and garden tractors should stop using them immediately and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair. John Deere is contacting all registered owners of the recalled tractors, says the CPSC.

No injuries have been reported to CPSC.
