CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — The Cedar Rapids Police Department has painted one of its black-and-whites pink to honor October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The specially-painted police car will be driven throughout the month by a patrol sergeant and Protect, Assist and Listen — or PAL — officer visiting schools throughout the community, reports Cedar Rapids station KGAN. The car will also lead the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer 5K on Sunday, Oct. 9.
In a Facebook post, the department says the paint and labor was donated and no taxpayer money was spent.
Also, all of the department’s marked cars will have pink ribbon magnets on them throughout the month.
